Sudden Death of I(som) A(sberry) Gober
After an illness lasting but two hours, I. A. Gober died at the family home, eight miles west and three miles north of Frederick, at nine o'clock Tuesday morning. Death was caused by convulsions.
The suddenness with which the end came was a terrible blow to Mr. Gober's friends and relatives, and a shock to the community, where he was so generally respected and loved.
He was a man of exceptionally fine character and attractive personality. Mr. Gober had endeared himself to the countless friends in Frederick and vicinity and these share in the sadness which his death has brought upon his immediate relatives.
I. A. Gober was born September 14, 1846, in Georgia. While a young man he moved to Fannin County, Texas. He was married to Miss Louisa Ring in 1870. In 1902 he and wife and children moved to Oklahoma, which had since continued to be their home, Mr. Gober having been extensively engaged in farming. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was an enthusiastic Mason and a member of the Knights Templars. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave, and Knights Templar furnished an escort.
He is survived by Mrs. Gober, seven children and 11 grandchildren and five brothers.
Funeral services were held at Fry's Chapel at 1:30 Friday afternoon, and were largely attended. There were many handsome floral offerings. The services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Harris, and burial was made in the city cemetery.
