Mr. Gober was retired from the Walker County Board of Education and had taught in the Walker County schools for 15 years.
He was a member of the LaFayette Rotary Club, where he had served as president and was the recipient of the organizations Vocational Service Award.
Mr. Gober was a member of LaFayette First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva P. Gober; one son, Terry C. Gober of Cedar Bluff Ala., one sister, Effie Nolan of Arab, Ala; three brothers, Barnie Gober of Arab, Ala., Dr. John Gober of Common Ala., and Elvis Gober of Montgomery, Ala; two grandchildren, Autumn and Heather Gober of Cedar Bluff, Ala; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. from LaFayette First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Ramsey, the Rev. Joe Watson and the Rev. Kenneth Mavity officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery.
