Phillips served in 1862 in the Confederate States Army and was wounded and captured 1864. He was released from prison. in 1865. He died in 1917.

     Earnest Jackson Phillips was born on 7 February 1878 at Georgia. He was the son of Wiley Milton Phillips and Sarah Elizabeth Carey. Earnest Jackson Phillips died on 10 May 1880 at Georgia at age 2.
