     Thomas Jefferson Vinyard was born on 10 July 1838 at Monroe Twp, Pope County, Illinois. He was the son of George Vinyard and Mary A. Williams. Thomas Jefferson Vinyard served in the Union Army as a Sergeant in Co. C 48 Regiment Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. He married Lucy Ann Colbert on 11 November 1866 at Gallatin County, Illinois. Thomas Jefferson Vinyard died on 15 April 1929 at age 90. He was buried at Vinyard Cemetery # 1, Hardin County, Illinois.
