     Raymond Brewster Mitchell was born on 23 October 1911 at Sunny Side, Spalding County, Georgia. He married Martha Kate Liddell, daughter of Julian Gordon Liddell and Martha Truitt Saxon, on 4 April 1969 at Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. Source: WJL, Martha L. Mitchell, R. B. Mitchell.
during depression years of the thirties
Raymond stayed out of school several years/ and at one time worked for CCC.
Returned to U of GA, took Agric. Engineering, graduated 1940. WJL knew him in
school, and knew his future wife Helen, whom he married on graduation, Jun 40.
He worked for Soil Conservation Service in several parts of the state,
eventually becoming State Watershed Engineer at Athens. He retired about 1975.
He was with the SeaBees (Construction Battalion-CB) during WWII.
He and Helen had three girls and a boy. Helen, the son, and the oldest
daughter were killed in a train crossing accident in Griffin. Raymond moved
to Athens to work with SCS in the State office and met and married his second
wife, Sandy. They had no children. They were divorced about three years later.
Daughters Ray and Judy grew up and married, each couple having two children.
Raymond married Martha 4 April 1969 in time to go with her to Japan for her
son, Don's wedding to Judith Nelson. Martha's mother had died 24 Feb 1969. In
1989 Raymond was diagnosed with an internal cancer about the time of Martha's
death. Massive Chemo doses restored him to normal. Four years later he died of
a sudden heart
attack while visiting a friend, Pledger Carmichael (also a friend of ours) to
help Pledger with a ornamental shrub grafting project.
Martha died in 1989. In 1992 Raymond met and married Annette Ransom, whose
husband had died within a few days of Martha L. and at the same hospital.
Raymond was a master gardener and horticulturist, his hobbies. His yard was a
showplace. Flowers, fruits, grapes,vegetables, flowering shrubs & ornamentals
abounded. He was strongly devoted to his church, United Methodist, 127 N.
Lumpkin.

Raymond Brewster Mitchell died on 20 March 1995 at Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, at age 83. He was buried on 23 March 1995 at Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia.

     Sarah Berry Mitchell was born on 21 September 1824 at Alabama. She married Lewis J. Gober, son of John Gober and Unity Wilson, in 1847. Her married name was Gober. Sarah Berry Mitchell died on 9 October 1903 at Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, at age 79. She was buried at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas.

     Susanne Mitchell married Joe Mervin Carson, son of Ivan Eustace Carson and Clara Agnes Neal, in October 1956.

     Trina Mitchell married Thomas Erwin Drake, son of Ernest Gay Drake and Mailande Louise Wright, on 30 June 1979.
